Disclaimer

What our barcode numbers are, what they are not, and why we cannot promise that a marketplace or retailer will accept them. Please read this before you buy.

1. We are not affiliated with GS1

PurchaseBarcode and RNR Associates are not GS1, not a GS1 member organisation such as GS1 India, and not affiliated with, authorised, endorsed or sponsored by GS1.

Our barcode numbers are valid GTIN-format numbers with the correct check digit, and they scan on standard barcode readers. They are not registered in the GS1 database and are not licensed by GS1, so a GS1 lookup will not show your business against them. We cannot rule out that one of our numbers is the same as a number GS1 has assigned to another company. If you need GS1-registered barcodes, apply to GS1 India.

2. ISBN-13 barcodes are not ISBN agency numbers

Our ISBN-13 barcodes are 13-digit numbers in the book (Bookland 978) format. They are not ISBNs assigned by an ISBN agency, and they are not registered with the Raja Rammohun Roy National Agency for ISBN, which issues ISBNs in India free of charge. Because no agency assigned them, an ISBN-13 barcode number from us may be identical to an ISBN that an ISBN agency has already assigned to another publisher's book. If you need an ISBN for a book, apply to that agency.

3. No promise that a channel will accept a code

Whether a marketplace, retailer, distributor, platform or software accepts a barcode is that party's decision, and its rules can change. Some check codes against the GS1 database and may accept only GS1-issued codes. We do not promise that any marketplace, retailer or system will accept our codes. Please check the current rules of every channel you plan to use before you buy. Our EAN-13 numbers start with 715, a range GS1 has not assigned to any member organisation; some services, such as Google Merchant Center, flag numbers whose prefix GS1 has not assigned. GS1 lists the prefixes it has not assigned as reserved for future use, so we will re-check GS1's list at least once a year (last checked 17 September 2026). A prefix is not a GS1 licence. As our Refund & Cancellation Policy explains, a refusal because a code is not GS1-issued is not a fault in the code.

4. Printing and scanning

Our EAN-13, UPC-A and ISBN-13 image files show the bars only, without the printed digits or the blank margin (quiet zone) a label needs; an ITF-14 carton-code image has a bearer-bar frame and the blank margins but no printed digits. Whether a printed barcode scans also depends on its size, print quality, colours, the margin around it and the label material. Add the digits and the margin to your artwork and test-scan a printed sample before a full print run.

5. Names and trademarks of others

GS1, GTIN, EAN, UPC and ISBN, and the names of marketplaces, platforms and services mentioned on this website (such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, JioMart, Shopify, WooCommerce, Razorpay, WhatsApp and Google), belong to their respective owners. We use them only to describe barcode standards, sales channels and the services we use. Their use does not mean that any of these owners is connected with us, or approves of or recommends our products.

6. Information on this website

Our guides and answers are general information to help you choose a barcode. They are not legal, tax or regulatory advice. Requirements differ by product, channel and country, so check what applies to you, and ask us if you are unsure.

Links to other websites and services, such as WhatsApp or Razorpay, are there for your convenience. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
